If you’re new to our treatment style, it’s natural to have questions and maybe even be nervous about your first session. At our office, we understand how important it is to feel comfortable, supported, and informed from the very start. Here's what you can expect during your first visit with us.
1. Our First Goal: Desensitizing You to Pain
We know that pain can significantly affect your quality of life. Our initial priority is to help desensitize your body to that pain. This means we will work together to reduce the intensity of your discomfort; creating an environment where healing can take place. Pain often limits movement and triggers fear of further injury, so we focus on relieving that fear as part of the process.
2. Re-Introducing Controlled Movement
Movement is essential for recovery and maintaining a healthy body, but if you're in pain, it can feel overwhelming. During your first session, we’ll begin re-introducing movement to your body in a controlled and safe manner. This doesn’t mean pushing your limits right away— instead, it’s about gently guiding your body to move in ways that support healing and reduce discomfort.
3. Building a Positive Relationship with Pain-Free Movement
For many, pain can create a negative association with movement. Over time, this can lead to fear of moving altogether. We want to help you re-establish a positive relationship with pain-free movement. By gradually introducing movements that don’t cause pain, we can help you regain confidence in your body’s ability to move freely and comfortably.
4. Assessing Where You Are and Where You Want to Be
Each person’s journey is unique, and your first session is a key opportunity for us to assess your current condition and understand your personal goals. We’ll work with you to determine where you are right now in terms of mobility, pain levels, and overall health. From there, we’ll create a plan to help you get to where you want to be—whether that’s moving without discomfort, returning to a favorite activity, or simply feeling better in your daily life.
What’s Next?
After this initial session, we’ll have a clearer picture of how we can help you on your path to healing. Our approach is always tailored to your individual needs, and we’ll continue to adjust your care plan as your body responds to treatment.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to help you move better, feel better, and live better. Your first session is just the beginning of that journey.
