3 Reasons Your Pain WON'T Go Away

So, you have pain that's keeping you from training. Whether that's powerlifting, CrossFit, HIIT, Olympic weightlifting, all of it. If pain and injury is holding you back, you'll never be able to express your full potential.

Let's talk about why:

1. You've tried RICE with no results

Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

A solution as old as time. This is also not your solution.

RICE is a great tool for acute injuries; injuries that happened a few hours ago. In that timeframe, RICE helps to control swelling and inflammation, and lessen pain.

However, this is not a solution for chronic injuries that have lasted longer than a few weeks. Chronic musculoskeletal injuries like sciatica, calf strains, shin splints, painful hips or rotator cuff issues require a different approach.

2. Your rehab was too short

We've all been there. Get hurt in the gym, and then try to fix the issue in a couple weeks. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, the injury seems to linger for a while.

These longer injuries require enough time, strategy, effort and stimulus in order to work.

Rehab for chronic injuries takes time. Rarely is there a perfect timeline for how long rehab should take. Rather, having a clinician on your side that understands you and your goals - that's how true change is made.

3. No real assessment was made

Consider this:

Your car starts making a weird noise and now it's not turning on. You take it to a mechanic, and they suggest you replace this and that without running any tests. Sounds like a waste of time and money, right?

Your body is not too dissimilar. You end up wasting money, and even worse, your own time.

Assessing your injuries and what led to them is the only way you can hope to create a rehab program that will work for you.

What Should You Do Instead?
